Tell your people and share the news. Pop the bubbly and beam that beautiful smile. You deserve all the happiness!
2. Stop The Time
Let it all sink in. Get your ring sized if needed and make sure it is insured. Go out on a romantic date night or hang out with your closest group of friends and have a little celebration. Let the magic of this time come over you before you jump into all the planning. Trust me, once you start planning, the gears will switch.
3. Pick Your Date
Now that the excitement has settled down a bit, it's time to start planning.
Do you have a date in mind? Some dates book faster than others so narrowing your date down is crucial. Talk with your partner to come to an agreement if that date is at all flexible.
Will there be people attending your wedding that have to travel from out of town? If so, you might want to give them plenty of notice. Take all things into consideration when thinking about the date.
4. Big Party or Intimate Night?
Figure out what kind of wedding speaks to you and your fiancé. Are you wanting to throw a big party of a lifetime, or maybe elopement and an intimate ceremony is more your jam. Whatever your vision is, it will lead the venue search for your wedding day. Narrow down the logistics. More people = More Money
5. Find Your Venue
Time to look for venues that will fit your needs. This is an important in locking your date. Make a list of dream venues, call and inquire about a tour, availability, and pricing.
6. Discuss Your Budget
Alright, you narrowed down if you want a big, medium or small wedding. You got info about different venue options. Time to look at the big picture and figure out who pays for what and how much you can afford. Talk with your future spouse, your parents if they will be helping and agree who will pay for what and the numbers you are comfortable with. Getting everyone on the same page will help with future planning.
7. Get Inspired
Create a central hub to store your ideas. Pinterest is super helpful. Create different boards to help you organize your thoughts and visuals that you have fallen in love with. Also, consider creating a website so that all your guests can find the needed info and updates during the planning process.
8. Get Yo Friends!
Wedding party can help make or break your wedding. Let me explain. Choose people that are willing to help. People that you trust. Don't feel like you have to ask someone to be in your wedding party, just because you were in theirs.
Will you have even number of wedding party members on each side? Figure out your lists before you start popping the question to your besties.
9. Find Your Vendors
Finding vendors you trust and love is so important. Do your research. Ask for samples of work. Read reviews. If you can, meet with them for a cup of coffee or happy hour after work. If you cant meet in person, do a Facetime/Skype call. Making sure you vibe with their personality is important. They will be on this wedding planning journey with you so it's important you vibe with them .
